The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Did you know that different camera angles were used on the 2000 release of ''The Alternate Aloha'' and the 2007 deluxe edition of ''Aloha From Hawaii'' ?
I noticed some things that didn't line up with how i remembered them, and thus after having both releases playing next to each other, i discovered some camera angles were actually different on both releases.. thus i decided to edit some performances.. here are two i've edited. ''An American Trilogy'' and ''Steamroller Blues'' both have the audio of the 2013 Legacy Edition

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Very interesting Johnny!
With the 2 sources I guess you mean the 2000 Lightyear dvd and the 2004 Deluxe Edition?
Are there more different angles from the show?

Great! Thx Johnny.
Can you tell me which release we see on the left side and which on the right?

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
And all this is extra interesting because only the main show had a multi-screen release on the 40th ann edition in 2013.

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
I've always felt the Lightyear release was streets ahead in terms of picture quality [pause the same angle at the start of "So hush little baby..." during "Trilogy" to see the the difference in clarity and colour grading].
Excellent work here, Johnny; would make for a fantastic project to see the whole show [minus the missing songs of the Lightyear DVD issue] in this format.
Looking back, the 2004 so-called deluxe edition was anything but.
Yes, great to have as a package, but very underwhelming in both visuals and audio [the backing vocalists sound like they have not been mic'd up and what we are hearing is spill from other mic's. It's that poor a mix!].

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Thank you so much i appreciate the comments. I do intend on doing every song from the show. I hope to get some more songs done later this week, as for the missing song [I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry] it was released by lightyear on VHS just not on DVD.. So i might be able to do something there too.elvisalisellers wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 2:43 amI've always felt the Lightyear release was streets ahead in terms of picture quality [pause the same angle at the start of "So hush little baby..." during "Trilogy" to see the the difference in clarity and colour grading].

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Here's another volume! The messy but entertaining ''Burning Love''.
Notice how Elvis throws the guitar to Charlie, similar to how he would later from 1974 to 1977 end ''I Got A Woman''

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
After a thorough search I must conclude that at some time I threw away my two Lightyear Aloha dvd's. I guess I thought that with the 2004 Deluxe release I didn't need these anymore.
I know better now....
Johnny, do you think with the 2013 40th Anniversary Edition we have all the camera angles of the main show and the Lightyear release of the main show offers nothing different?

I am not sure, i will have to check. Once i finished this rehearsal concert, i'd probably follow it up with that one.Edwin wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 7:05 pmAfter a thorough search I must conclude that at some time I threw away my two Lightyear Aloha dvd's. But even the 40th anniversary edition didnt offer us every angle (we had some angles of the Japanese broadcast included on there, but not all)

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Today it's ''Hound Dog'' performed more funky then the eventual broadcast (and listen to James Wah-Wah guitar) followed by a great ''What Now My Love''

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Okay so i have an update you guys: The next video will be.. The entire concert
To fix some small errors and make it enjoyable to watch in one go, i'll be presenting the entire concert this way.. the VHS Version of Lightyear also has some alternate angles not found on the other releases, but i refrained from using those because they were very very short segments like sometimes even just second shots.. the only song i'll be using a small part of the VHS version on is on ''I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry'' which was edited out of the lightyear DVD but remained intact on the VHS, again there's not that much to see but to atleast have a little bit of split-screen effect and to not make it feel ''just added in'' the decision was made by me to use that small part of the VHS for that song.
I hope to finish it this week, and upload it by the end of this week - so far i'm half way done.

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
I hope to get it fully rendered tomorrow. I was trying to do it tonight, but my program decided to shut off about halfway through, so i only got 26 minutes rendered.

Re: The Alternate Aloha performances re-edited
Thanks for your hard work Johnny.
The video can't be played, but maybe that's because I'm on holiday in Austria.
Strange, because I can watch the other videos in this section.
