Anyone heard whether ShopElvis has gotten replacement disc news? I've asked them again about it but haven't heard back yet.

Re: NEW FTD
I got my copy of the shows (and the EIB disc), can Eliasson remaster the LA show? The splice on disc one is probably the cleanest I've heard from FTD and the sound is miles better than the LA show.
Disc 2 seems to be 1.5% too slow, if someone could double check that would be great.

Re: NEW FTD
That's unfortunate and it shouldn't have happened. BUT there are ways to fix it.
PS. My copy is on its way. I should have it early next week.

Re: NEW FTD
The editing isn't an issue when its done well, but splicing two shows that are running at different speeds is not right.
It's still a great listen if you can look past this issue.

Re: NEW FTD
I like both shows very much, good solid performances.
Does anyone know if the Fresno performance from disc one can be heard in complete form?
As cdr, audiencerecoding.

Re: NEW FTD
I think most notable example is the Fort Worth show. This one runs to slow and you can hear it. But is there a technical way to explore the difference in speed? I mean to compare it with another show by ear is not that confincing. Maybe they played it a tone lowe.
So when you play this new cd can one notice by ear that Elvis sounds too slow? I don't have the new set yet. I first want to know if they did a good job on the mastering. If it's not worth buying i stick to my other 20+ 1974 shows.

Re: NEW FTD
Disc one sounds very good, it's bass heavy but it's bright, disc two is the same but slightly duller. I haven't heard either all the way through, I'm half way on disc one and it's a solid show for an afternoon performance.philobeddo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:13 pmI think most notable example is the Fort Worth show. Re: NEW FTD
Is that really an accurate measure to judge the correct speed of a given show, though? To assume that Elvis and the band always consistently performed at 100% the same speed? I think the precise speed varied a bit, a few % points, on different afternoons and nights, based on Elvis' mood and energy and other things.

Re: NEW FTD
James' guitar is the give away. They may play at different speeds from show to show, but there is no way they'd out of key every show.Kullervo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:47 pmIs that really an accurate measure to judge the correct speed of a given show, though? Re: NEW FTD
The San Bernardino show begins with the opening of Help Me on disc one, I say this because from Help Me onwards the everything seems to be fine when it comes to the pitch/speed/key, oh and the tape noise is a give away.

Re: NEW FTD
A performer doesn't switch the keys from night to night. The best way is to shove it through some some software that will give the chance to see exactly what the pitch is.philobeddo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:13 pmI think most notable example is the Fort Worth show. Re: NEW FTD
Exactly. All you have to do is listen for the low E string on James guitar. You can then adjust the speed to get the right pitch. The incorrect pitch of several FTD shows definitely makes me less inclined to listen to them.Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:53 pmJames' guitar is the give away.
