They might switch tempopmp wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 6:02 pmA performer doesn't switch the keys from night to night. The best way is to shove it through some some software that will give the chance to see exactly what the pitch is.philobeddo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:13 pmI think most notable example is the Fort Worth show. This one runs to slow and you can hear it. But is there a technical way to explore the difference in speed? I mean to compare it with another show by ear is not that confincing. Maybe they played it a tone lowe.
So when you play this new cd can one notice by ear that Elvis sounds too slow? I don't have the new set yet. I first want to know if they did a good job on the mastering. If it's not worth buying i stick to my other 20+ 1974 shows.
Tempo can be defined as the pace or speed at which a section of music is played. Tempos, or tempi, help the composer to convey a feeling of either intensity or relaxation. We can think of the tempo as the speedometer of the music. Typically, the speed of the music is measured in beats per minute, or BPM

Re: NEW FTD
Ok, my final assessment of this set, this time it's correct (after checking about 100 times)
Disc one: the speed is fine, the switch from Fresno to San Bernardino is actually at the very beginning of Help Me. The show itself belongs to one of the best ones from the year.
Disc two: it's running slow by 1.5%, the sound is very slightly duller when compared to disc one, the age of the tape is more evident on this disc as well (wow and flutter) but this can be fixed by folding down the 2 channels. The show feels more like a June/July show, Elvis is having a bit more fun, still a solid show though.

Re: NEW FTD
I do really like the new FTD! I don't agree that the Fresno part runs to slow, i've compared it myself and hear no difference between the key they play these songs at (like Help Me and Love Me Tender) in the Memphis concert.
However i do agree that the 2nd disc runs to slow and i had noticed this when i played it.

Re: NEW FTD
The splice between the two shows is clean and the sound is fantastic on disc one, so unfortunate that it's incomplete because it's a very good show as well. Also Johnny, I am sure that Help Me and Trilogy aren't from Fresno.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 1:24 amI do really like the new FTD! Disc two also sounds very good and I'm enjoying Elvis' slightly looser perfromance.
A very welcome set by FTD, I hope they get to March 1976 next, but for now I'm going to enjoy the hell out of JD's dive bombs from this set.

Re: NEW FTD
The sudden jump in tape noise at the very start of Help Me makes me think it's from a different tape and the increased level of tape noise remains that way for the rest of the tracks after, also, it's not very audible, there is a scream that suddenly appears at the start of Help Me, it doesn't sound natural the way the scream appears.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:16 amWhat makes you think these two track listed as Fresno are not from Fresno?Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:13 amThe splice between the two shows is clean and the sound is fantastic on disc one, so unfortunate that it's incomplete because it's a very good show as well. Re: NEW FTD
I listened to it and didn't find any difference in the sound not only on Help me if not also on Big boss and CHFIL......I think is a great release
The 1,5 slower on cd 2 is nothing to worry about....is not noticeable IMO

Re: NEW FTD
This is why I think Help Me and Trilogy don't belong to Fresno, the change in tape noise makes no sense (unless it's an edit), if the tape ran out and they countinued recording on a different tape they wouldn't have captured all of Help Me, even if they did switch to another tape, why not record the rest of the show?Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:40 amThe sudden jump in tape noise at the very start of Help Me makes me think it's from a different tape and the increased level of tape noise remains that way for the rest of the tracks after, also, it's not very audible, there is a scream that suddenly appears at the start of Help Me, it doesn't sound natural the way the scream appears.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:16 amWhat makes you think these two track listed as Fresno are not from Fresno?Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:13 amThe splice between the two shows is clean and the sound is fantastic on disc one, so unfortunate that it's incomplete because it's a very good show as well. Re: NEW FTD
As much as I love the better sound and performance on disc one, I overall prefer disc two because it's more complete and it's not two shows (audibly) stiched together, the looser performance isn't too bad either. Excellent release FTD, well done.

Re: NEW FTD
hello Cisco !
There is no news about "Elvis In Concert" in classic album format? FTD needs at least the original album to release.
FTD could release the original album remixed plus a CD with live multi-track recorded in march, april and may 77.
