C.C.R. - Born On The Bayou "Mono Mix" from Radio Station Open Reel Edit Tape,1969
quote lrh1966
- Creedence Clearwater Revival "Born On The Bayou" taken from a AM Radio Station, DJ Edit, Mono Mix, Reel To Reel Tape and was put together for the station on November 18, 1979. The tape is 3M Classic, CL-7R120 on 7 inch reel, running at 7.5 I.P.S. and transferred to home recorded CD some years back. The mono mix is unique in the way it was processed from stereo fold down for mono AM playback. There are more tracks from this tape that I might eventually add later on. From the peak era of AM rock stations in my area just before FM drove many out of the music play business and into mostly talk radio formats like today.
BTW I feel this thread should feature some stereo fold-downs but ONLY the ones that was prepared for the radio AM industry.

Re: the mono 45's Appreciation topic
First, for better sound quality, choose the HD 720p viewing option.
"Sky Pilot (Parts 1 & 2)" reached number 14 on the U.S. pop charts upon its release in 1968. When released as a single the song was split across both sides, due to its length.

Re: the mono 45's Appreciation topic
It's my absolute pleasure to have this mono 45rpm featured here as it happened to be a hit record in my hometown adelaide , australia back in november 1968, peaked at #22 on the singles chart.
The only place anywhere in the world to have done so. Trust me. Also my birth month, suppose i gave away my age just now , hehe

Track was taken from a AM Radio Station, DJ Edit, Mono Mix, Reel To Reel Tape and was put together for the station on November 18 (NOTE : great birthdate ) 1979 (wrong year however).
The tape is 3M Classic, CL-7R120 on 7 inch reel, running at 7.5 I.P.S. and transferred to home recorded CD some years back. The mono mix is unique in the way it was processed from stereo fold down for mono AM playback. There are more tracks from this tape that the uploader says might eventually add later on. From the peak era of AM rock stations in my area just before FM drove many out of the music play business and into mostly talk radio formats like today.
Tape is from a thrift shop in the uploaders area.

Re: the mono 45's Appreciation topic
The original mono mix of Bobby Fuller Four's "I Fought the Law". It has a different vocal than the common stereo mix.
That guitar solo is quite cool, too, and hard to master if you play (better know your triplets!!)

Re: the mono 45's Appreciation topic
Produced by Clyde Otis and co-written by Bob Johnston under his wife's name (Joy Byers). All three also wrote songs Elvis cut.
