Re: What are you listening to right now?
It is time to recall... the B-sides... a three-pack on notable hit singles 45s B-sides related to official australian radio stations music charts. I last left the series with the year 1974.
Therefore this will based according to radio broadcaster XY Top 40 Music Survey , 16 May 1975. It's notable that Mickey Newbury's American Trilogy 45 had reached it's peak at #6. "Sunshine" was it's flip side,
6.Mickey Newbury
An American Trilogy / Sunshine . Elektra Records EKM 46005
26.Joe Cocker You Are So Beautiful / It's a Sin When You Love Somebody . A&M Records K-5674
36.Labelle Lady Marmalade / Space Children . Epic Records ES-161

David Bowie: Time, (Aladdin Sane)
Bruce Springsteen: Incident on 57th Street, (The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle)
Bob Dylan: Lay Lady Lay , (Nashville Skyline)
Elvis Presley: Power of My Love (From Elvis in Memphis)

How about you? In what order would you rank those five legendary albums ?
Cue: Another Elvis thread is coming !

Re: What are you listening to right now?
What a story behind this. A music school gives a jazz recital at a student's house. They are asked if their jazz singer neighbour can watch. The neighbour turns out to be an old woman in a T-shirt and cardigan. After the recital, there's a jam of Watermelon Man by the adults. And then this voice is heard. The old woman is Ella, unrecognisable in day clothes and without her wig.
It's a story always thought to be exaggerated or just a myth. And today the proof ended up on YouTube. I don't know if it is actually Ella's last public performance, but it's from the year she retired.
Talk about an "attic find!". So joyous and so moving at the same time. And, remarkably, the only performance of Ella singing this song, I believe.

Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.

a classic moment in Beetlejuice containing a song by Harry Belafonte.. seems appropriate today the day he passed, and Beetlejuice 2 has been confirmed

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Just listened to and enjoyed the FTD release from, Lakeland, April 27, 1975 (CD 2 from the "From Georgia to Florida" release). A good show with Elvis in a great mood. He is good vocally in this performance.
Re: What are you listening to right now?
I’ve started listening in order of date (1954 - 1955 - 1956 - 1961) to the live performances released by Sony and FTD. I’m now in 1969 and today I’m going to listen to the MS of 25th August. I was lucky enough to see 4 shows in 1969, but it still amazes me how good Elvis was singing live. I still have the reservation card, so I know that I attended the 13th MS and the 14th DS. But I can’t remember on which date the others 2 were. We were staying at The International Hotel and we were supposed to fly to Buffalo the next day to see The Niagara Falls and after that to New York to fly back home. But we overslept and the first thing we did, after missing our plane, was running downstairs to book 2 more shows, which was possible as staying at the hotel was an advantage. I don’t collect bootlegs, but as far as I know the shows which I attended were never released. I wish I had kept a diary, so that I would know if the other 2 shows were on the 15th or the 16th.
