It suggests that the Rehearsal show was remixed... but every other site says nothing about it...

This is the last milestone event from Elvis' career that hasn't been fully covered in the past.
Now, we have a complete Sony Legacy collection of crucial events from Elvis' career.
There is nothing left that needs a modern upgrade now. They won't release Elvis In Concert boxset.
So we might call this the end of Sony Legacy worthy releases. Unless they find something.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
Nothing wrong with THAT one. But that's the redux of the press release not the original one.
1. The first one said the main show was remixed but not the second - now that's changed.
Meanwhile:
"recorded live on January 12 and 14, 1973 at the Honolulu International Center Arena (capacity approximately 6000) and beamed into an estimated billion-plus television sets around the world..."
2. Well, the special was either live OR recorded. It can't be both when it beamed into a billion TV sets.
3. The above quote makes it look like the special was a combination of footage from two show (in the way EIC was). It wasn't. None of the January 12th show was in the original special.
4. It wasn't beamed into a billion television sets. Absolute rubbish. Not remotely possible considering it was only basically beamed to Asia and Oceania. Many from the countries it reached didn't have a TV set, and for it to be anything like a billion TV sets would have required everyone in those countries with a TV set to watch it on their own. Complete poppycock and always has been.

Why are members here so obsessive about how many people saw the show? So unimportant people, give it a break and find something enjoyable to do today.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
So the Aloha event is well known, but over the years, there has been a variety of releases under mainstream plus the more recent FTD release. I believe there was more interest for Elvis on Tour simply because the majority of the shows had never been released at all, nor much of the rehearsals etc. and none of the three shows had been released via FTD beforehand, but even then, physical sales were not that great. But that is not the same for Aloha and some fans have now started to draw a line under how many Aloha sets that they want to own, hence the reason for my comment.sweetangeline wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 5:05 pmEverything surrounding the Aloha event is well known to many people who do not collect FTD releases so I would disagree about this claim you make...time will tellemjel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 1:45 amEvery release that Sony puts out on mainstream gets this kind of marketing blurb for the mags to use - we got it with Elvis on Tour and previous releases like From Elvis in Nashville, but they didn’t put Elvis in the spotlight as such and I doubt this will either. The PR push will put Elvis in the spotlight again this year. Something the FTD release couldn’t do.

If according to you, it is unimportant, then why do certain parties like Sony and EPE continue to push out such ridiculous stats. Perhaps some fans have a problem with that in the same way as some fans have a problem in Billboard missing out Elvis first early hits when Billboard compile their listings of artists who have the most number ones in the Hot 100.

Billboard has always acknowledged Elvis` hits from `56 to `58...usually as some sort of (subtitle) so Billboard really does know the truth deep down. Fact is going back to the 80`s and 90`s they were acknowledging it more than ever. I tell anyone today who inquires to just pick up one of Whitburns books for the real truth.emjel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 7:45 pmIf according to you, it is unimportant, then why do certain parties like Sony and EPE continue to push out such ridiculous stats. Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
Because, in this case, "members here" were asked what was wrong with the press release, and that incorrect information was part of it. I'm sure if the number of people who saw the broadcast was given at a much LOWER figure than it really was instead of HIGHER, you would be one of the first ones moaning.
But the post wasn't about numbers, it was about yet another Sony release appearing with errors even in the press release. If your admiration for Elvis is so low that you don't care about correct or incorrect information, one has to wonder why you are here in the first place.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
Realistically the numbers are brought together or why would Billboard mention this fact about Elvis` numbers beforehand. They do that because they know full well those charts before `58 are just as important as the HOT 100 and that they existed for a reason(s). They can`t ignore that it was there charts In 2023 you would have to be pretty darn gullible when the HOT 100 is mentioned not to know the truth about Elvis` number ones or anyone else`s as far as that goes. I don`t see anyone on any social media outlets holding up ELVIS` 30 #1 HITS CD and proclaiming fraud...C`mon emjel you are really reaching here and it`s quite laughableemjel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:43 pmYet some fans still complain and do not understand why the numbers cannot simply be brought together. Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
What seems to get lost in the discussion on viewership is that 1 TV doesn’t mean 1 viewer.emjel wrote:Yet some fans still complain and do not understand why the numbers cannot simply be brought together. Very common in the early seventies, not as much as in the 1950’s and 60’s, was communal TV watching. (Particularly outside of North America).
I know that the night my family watched Aloha in April 1973, there was my family of 5 and two neighbors , totaling at least 9 people. If we were a Nielsen Ratings family we would have been counted as 1.
It seems most discussions don’t include what the average family size was in various countries at the time.
Did 1.5B watch? No. Did 1B? Likely not. But more than a couple of hundred million did when average family size is taken into account.
Always Elvis

I’m not reaching, it’s not laughable and I’m not the one complaining about what some fans see as some kind of miscarriage of justice courtesy of Billboard.sweetangeline wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 10:04 pmRealistically the numbers are brought together or why would Billboard mention this fact about Elvis` numbers beforehand. Here is a recent Billboard chart ranking artists achievements:
Billboard turns 60 this week and ranks the all time artists thru the years since it's inception on August 4, 1958.
#5) Mariah Carey
#4) Elvis Presley
#3) (Sir) Elton John.
#2) Madonna
#1) The Beatles
And the fact remains that some fans want to see a chart that also includes the 1956/57 hits from Elvis to put him up higher up that chart. And no matter how hard I and others have explained that the chart is based on the Billboard Hot 100 which started mid 1958 and therefore cannot include Elvis from ‘56/57, they still are not happy about it even though Billboard acknowledges the chart does not take into account his early hits. They want the chart to show everything and are not happy about a sideline reference which they feel people will not see - basically, if Elvis is not at the top or at least in second place, they feel that Elvis has been robbed.
Here’s one of the comments - "It's about just giving Elvis his due. He had more hits than what Billboard has been crediting him with. You want to see them be fair and for Elvis to get his due that's all. They are doing that to favor the younger artists of today. It is literally a bias and a conspiracy. That's what they've been doing. If they take away all of Elvis' achievements based on flipping flopping of the rules what would be left".
And another which suggests Billboard is adopting some kind of anti Elvis tactics - ""Whatever method Billboard use to undermine Elvis….
And I have read similar comments on Elvis FB Sites.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
But equally, if you are going to use the number of TVs that the show was supposedly beamed to, as written in this blurb, one billion, it doesn’t mean the TV was switched on or that if it was, it was tuned into Aloha. further if three families totalling 6 people got together and watched it in one house on one TV, it just means that two other TVs were not being used.ForeverElvis wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 10:14 pmWhat seems to get lost in the discussion on viewership is that 1 TV doesn’t mean 1 viewer.emjel wrote:Yet some fans still complain and do not understand why the numbers cannot simply be brought together. I believe the population of the countries it was broadcast to was around 264 million. The fact that only a low percentage of people in some of those territories actually had TVs and not everybody would have been able to watch it due to work etc reduces the number significantly. Australia’s population was around 15 million in 1973, but only a small area could actually take the live feed. So I don’t think it is unreasonable to believe that around 185/190 million watched the show when it was broadcast live to the Pacific region.

I look at this and see a man sitting quite nicely at #4 "TODAY" over 45 yrs after his death...but then I chuckle just a tad with a remaining grin and a twinkle in my eye and say in my mind..."oh Billboard nothing like diminishing previous charts that you created" and I move on knowing the truth as much as they do.emjel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 11:42 pmHere is a recent Billboard chart ranking artists achievements:

Whatever the case, FTD charged us some money for 3 cds for a 49th Ann release and now Sony is charging less for a proper 50th Ann. Release and including a blue ray. Those are the facts. Go ahead and judge them.

No judgement necessary. If you don`t want it don`t buy it. There isn't anybody on this board and I do mean "anybody" who is going to change any release plan that FTD or Sony has. Those are the facts and they are undisputed.

The press release doesn't say 1bn+ watched. It said it was beamed in 1bn+ TELEVISION SETS. There simply were not 1.5bn TV sets in existence in 1973 in the countries it was beamed to. So the whole notion of it reaching that many tv sets is absolute BS. It always was, and always will be. There are only 1.7bn TV sets NOW in the world, so I doubt that even 1bn existed worldwide in 1973, let alone in the part of the world that broadcast Aloha live.

Both shows on this new release are remixed. 100%
