It was an "event" and one of the biggest in Elvis` career and was certainly watched by many people all over the world...anything else who f****n cares. Lately some people here seem to wanna pick apart anything Presley...sad.
Your response suggests that you do. Sure it was a big event and probably the biggest in his career, but just not as big as some ‘need’ to believe it was.
Somme need to believe less
No, the majority of fans live in a world of reality - they don’t have a need to elevate things just to make them appear to be better than what they were in order to try and impress non fans. You only have to read the marketing rubbish that Parker put out about the audience levels even prior to the event.
some get a kick out bringing things down for some reason, no one knows the true figure it's a estimated figure if you know please let us have the evidence the true figure
Yes, you’re right - no one knows the exact figure, but the population figures are more or less known for the Pacific region that the show was broadcast live into and it wasn’t 1.5 billion or even 1 billion - and nowhere close to that. And we know the live show wasn’t broadcast globally either. So this has nothing to do with getting a kick out of bringing things down, but just dealing with reality. I don’t know any Elvis fan who when talking about how great Elvis was to a non fan would deliberately bring down the numbers unless it is just to correct a myth that another person questions, but I know there are some who enjoy elevating things.

you like to bring things down even the Elvis movie chasing Jaimes posts on figures must have bugged you when he ignored your replys to him and that the movie did well

It has everything to do with it and lately you have been the leader of this on many topics so if you can`t stay on topic with regards to this release be it streaming or the physical release then maybe it`s time for the moderators to step in and show you the light...stay on topic please...thanks.

I know the movie did well -the figures are there - and I never said it didn’t so you’ve made that up. The bits that were getting challenged and not just by me were against those who were suggesting that the movie had made a big profit for Warner’s within a month or so of opening. Jaime1234 ignored lots of people’s posts…not just mine. To me and others it was daily overkill and a weekly update would have sufficed.

But careful as you’re in danger of totally going away from the thread title.

Well go on then…report it to the mods and while you’re at it, report virtually every other thread on here which digresses away from a thread title.

The reality is that what is being discussed here revolves around the forthcoming release of Aloha From Hawaii and in this case, the errors or whatever you like to call them that Sony or EPE have put out in their marketing blurb regarding this release. No doubt, if I was uplifting the numbers even more, you’d be happy and no more would be said, so this isn’t a case if going off topic but more a case of you not liking anyone who attempts to dispel myths perpetuated around this show.

So if you want the thread to remain 100% on topic to the title of it, you’d better stop badgering me with accusations and causing animosity. And for the sake of not causing any more animosity, I politely suggest we leave it at that.

I bought Aloha FTD and was really impressed with the sound on cd1 (main show).
.
The mix of the main show on the recent FTD is certainly a marked improvement over Dennis Ferrante's 1998 effort... it keeps much of what the original mix offered but with improved separation and blend of sounds. It is the best mix/mastering available for this show...

I'm hopeful we'll finally get a decent mix of the rehearsal show with this new release...

I have no intention of reporting this to the mods they are smart enough to figure this out on there own.

I also couldn't care less about the numbers surrounding Aloha as this previous post clearly states;

Finally, the mods can decide who`s doing what here...you have no say in that and you never will. So with that said, I also politely ask again and going forward that you stay on topic and leave it at that...thanks.

Please hurry and get it so I will know whether or not to purchase.

I always base my purchases on your final decision.

Oh you mean like some who were also comparing it to Top Gun, but implying it was better because on one week, it beat Top Gun. I think that was during the start of elevation phase. You see it does not bug me as you suggest if something does well - it’s the unnecessary elevating thing I cannot understand. But hey ho - better get back to the forthcoming release otherwise….

How about you giving us your thoughts on this release instead of following me around all the time. There are lots who are not happy about it coming out so soon after the FTD release. Perhaps Captain Bowie can also share thoughts on this release too, or does the Captain not like entering into simple debates?

I am really looking forward to this release and I have the prior FTD edition as well. As I previously stated Sony were not going to let the 50th go by unnoticed.

"following me around all the time" ARE YOU JOKING you done nothing but chase Jamie when he was posting figures on the movie to the point he ignored your chasing posts, if you don't like my posts block my posts it's that simple, and the remark on Captain Bowie incapable is a not wise
my thoughts on the release is bring it out on Sony and not FTD as well

Jaime1234 (not Jamie) ignored everyone’s posts who questioned what he was doing - not just mine. You are already blocked - I told you this last year, but you keep replying to my comments and no idea why if you think I cannot see them. Perhaps it would be better if you reciprocated then you won’t see mine either and we can both live in bliss. I’ll drop admin/mods a line and see if they can sort it out.

At least we agree on your last sentence.

Don’t people do the exact same thing when discussing their favorite artist/s?

Just looking at the FTD Aloha booklet, which is 4 pages less than the forthcoming Sony release, I hadn’t noticed it before, but surprised to see that Disc 3 After Show recordings were also remixed by Matt Ross-Spang, so certainly strange that they did not put out the rehearsal show remixed by him too on the FTD release.

Anyhow, because of an Amazon clanger a couple of weeks ago, they dropped a £10 credit onto my account so decided to use that toward this Sony release - so I’m getting it at a £16 bargain cost.

That’s how the powers that be at Sony roll.

Just another ploy to get you to buy the damn thing.

It's cynical marketing. If you bought the FTD, you can now get the remixed rehearsal show and the blu ray for less than half the price of the FTD - and that will be enough to tempt most collectors. They knew exactly what they were doing.

The biggest disappointment for me is that they haven't bothered to dub the new mixes on to the video footage. Even though I bought the FTD, that would have made this release a must have. But now I'll probably just pick it up later when the price comes down - unless I hear glowing reports about improved picture quality, but that doesn't seem likely given that all the footage has been squeezed on to one disc..

Why would you not want 5.1 sound on the blu-Ray. No they are not squeezing the video. Very cynical and nonsensical comments.

I never mentioned 5.1 sound. I was referring to Matt Ross's new mix being synched to the video footage. I'm sure that would be a desirable option for some people, and there's no reason why it couldn't be an included in addition to the 5.1.

In respect of the footage, we are getting two complete shows plus the after show songs on a single disc, which I why I don't expect much improvement over the DVD's That's not being cynical, it's common sense....

hope the backing singers are high in the mix

Every single release of the show has them buried when they are such an important part of Elvis band

I found that's true with regard to some of the brass and woodwinds as well... specially on Aloha and the EOT mixes. There's some beautiful flute work during Bridge Over Troubled Water that is no-existent on the new mix... one of my favorite parts of the song...

But Blu-ray can hold much more information. Both shows easily fit....
