Love the rehearsal show, to get it in the same quality as the main show is a good bonus...

I like the emphasis upon the rhythm section - the effect moved me during that passage - on Matt Ross Sprang's rehearsal mix of 'Trilogy.'

Looks good but is a definite kick in the b…ks from Ftd. I’ve said it before the Colonel would be adding the people behind this decision to his team with one big golden handshake

It does, but I think I like the cover photo of the FTD version better.

It still beggars belief that Parker, and even Elvis, signed off on that real grotty photo that was used on the original cover, especially as it wasn’t even from either of the Hawaii shows where you could see he had lost weight and was looking good. The one used on the front of the FTD set would have been superb, plus some decent photos from the show inside instead of that crappy map.
A one or two week delay in getting the album to the stores so that they could have included some decent artwork for such an event wouldn’t have affected sales in the slightest, especially as the biggest sales got generated after the show was transmitted three months later.

I’d say that neither RCA, Parker or Elvis himself rarely got his record releases in the 70’s correct after Elvis Country although I suspect RCA had to work with what they were given courtesy of Parker and what seemed like Elvis’ lack of interest.

on the contrary, it probably would have generated even more sales, since you eat with your eyes (first).
ironically, when elvis looked his absolutely best in the 70s (excluding ´70 to ´71), the soundtrack featured the worst and most unflattering album shot ever.

Ed Bonya said he could not believe Parker picking the cover photo for Aloha.
Dont know if Elvis had any say about photos on sleeves of records but it seems he could not care less about what photos were used.
Parker picked the photos and sold them to RCA.
He had Ed Bonya take photos of Elvis then used them for sale in concert programs and sold them to RCA for covers of records.

Aloha Blu-ray offers richer colours although the tape source is obvious.

Watched a few times some of the rehearsal and main show select songs —and overall pleased. Sound is enhanced slightly too...

Got the box set. Great booklet and text... ImageImageImage

Thanks! Looks great. One question: on the far right side, when the menu is showing, it reads “audio”. What are the options?

Thanks Mona for the pictures and good question frus. The 68 box with the blu-Ray is my go to source for watching the four concerts because of those improvements. My Aloha box should arrive no later than Monday. I’m very excited now more than ever.

It's on par with the 68 special Blu-ray I'd say. Shows tape limitations but also richer colour and sharpness. I'm pleased with it. Watching now —runway stage lights standout nicely... Plus the crowd are more visible, colourful...
