Is the long arrival scene from the 3 DVD box also included on the Blu Ray?

A friend of mine compared the old 3DVD set with the Blue Ray, using a high-quality Blu-Ray player and a 4k TV set. He says that the picture quality is almost the same. Not really any improvements.
OK, Aloha was filmed on NTSC video format and not on celluloid but even a SD video could look better if you use modern technology. The Aloha video transfer is now over 20 years old...
But what can we expect from EPE? Don´t invest too much work and money!

Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to reading some more opinions about the BluRay. If the BR is an improvement that would be the only reason I would buy this set.

The original was quad, so a remix is for sure done.
The LP was also released in Stereo in 1973.

You’ll get my opinion in about five days. I don’t want to talk anyone into buying it but I will tell you what I think.

Is only the April 1973 edit of the jan 14th concert, with the multiple screen added songs, available on the BluRay ?
Or did they give us the additional dvd edit that Graceland had as an additional choice on the dvd set?
Straight transfer from 4.3 version with black bars either side. But that said I've been enjoying it. Colours pop a little more, sound is good.

I have doubts about buying the double LP of Aloha, my question is the same master from 2013 or is the sound improved, I am commenting on it because it does not make sense to buy the same product from 2013 if it is the same, when I have it in 8-tracks quadrophonic, in 8-track stereophonic, in quadrophonic lp, in stereophonic lp 1973, in 4 lps from 2013, on cd 3 different versions, on dvd etc...

I will compare the new LP with the earlier releases as soon as it arrives. This might take until the middle of next week. Maybe someone else is faster.

I see Sony are still writing the usual crap in the booklet about the programme being beamed around the world and being watched by over a billion people. You’d think that Ernst would have a word with someone at Sony.

I see you’re still very angry about this situation. Hang in there. Deep breathing helps. Meditation perhaps. Maybe you should start a ground roots campaign to get this situation corrected!

It's not the same... this version was recorded 10 days later according to the sleeve ! I'm so sorry... couldn't resist...

So the EPE re-edit from the deluxe dvd set is not included?

Don't think it is. Did that have black bars either side? Can't remember...

They should have included everything from the deluxe, plus helicopter arrival etc. Plus clean up the *Hilton hotel press conference footage which I was hoping for....
(*which was on special edition DVD)

Deluxe Blu-ray... On the way maybe??

Well it arrived today at my house in UK and it's got to go back. Bloody Amazon sent it in a thin cardboard wallet and the sides have been crushed. They're absolutely useless!!

Try marking the re-order as a gift. I've heard that if you do that they'll put it in a box so nobody can tell what's in it when it arrives.
Thanks for the tip, Wonderwall. As my order hasn't been shipped yet, I managed to edit it by adding a gift option. Fingers crossed they will treat the box-set more kindly now.

Same issue here. I have ripped it but probably will return it. Rubbish from Amazon. A friend on here has the same issue also.

Same as mine - the spines on both the box and the inner container have been slightly creased. But once I have copied it to my server, the box will sit on the shelf, so I cannot be bothered returning it.

Other companies seem to produce stellar deluxe re-issues, but Sony are clearly not interested in doing it for Elvis - not for this vinyl release nor the CD set which following the release of the FTD version offers nothing different apart from the remixed rehearsal show and the Blu-Ray, and the booklet is hardly something to get excited about offering just four extra pages at 28.
For those that didn't buy the FTD version (which includes me), this new SONY cd set will be fabulous!

But it could have been so much better. Whilst Sony have given us 50th anniversary releases before, they have encompassed more than just a specific album, so we’ve had the June 1970 sessions etc that cover a few albums or the May ‘71 sessions etc but this is a special 50th anniversary release of a specific album and for the CD, yes, they’ve added the Rehearsal and after show singing. But it’s the packaging and booklet or the fact it is no existent in the vinyl version which is a let down. Compared to some of the Dylan Bootleg releases also done by Sony, Elvis ones simply do not compare in presentation and quality of the boxes and books.

I’m sure the flimsy Amazon packaging does not help but we have no idea how these things arrived from Sony after shipping. If they used a stronger sturdier card for the outer slipcases like they seem to do with the Dylan releases, the problem of bent or crushed rear spine might not happen at all.

That's true. But I guess Amazon should have taken that into account. When I get FTDs from Now Dig T his they are always packaged extremely robustly and never any issues. NDT being a small firm can't afford to have returns and poor customer relations. Amazon don't need to worry about it imo. I suspect you won't be alone in just keeping it and accepting the situation as it can be a chew to return. Having said that all I needed to do was pop it to my local Post Office, didn't need to repackage or anything. If it had been a bit of effort I might not have bothered either.

You can guess what ever turns you on - I have no idea and neither do you, but at least Our World was broadcast via 4 satellites around the world whereas Aloha only had the facility of using one, which we know was only capable of reaching parts of Australia, Japan/ the Pacific region whilst Elvis was performing. Quite why some fans have a problem with that is anyone’s guess, but no doubt it’s because it shatters the myth that has been going around for the last 50 years.
