Then I guess you’d have to substantiate that if you’re attempting to prove something, but I suspect you can’t. But I suppose you give it your best shot if you’re that needy.robbie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 12:27 pmYou can guess what ever turns you on, 400 million way to highemjel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 12:20 pmYou can guess what ever turns you on - I have no idea and neither do you, but at least Our World was broadcast via 4 satellites around the world whereas Aloha only had the facility of using one, which we know was only capable of reaching parts of Australia, Japan/ the Pacific region whilst Elvis was performing. I’m not that bothered in all honesty and whether it was 200 million, 300 million or 400 million. Figures given are estimates but It’s not something that continually gets pitched to all and sundry. The fact remains that Our World was broadcast as it happened around the world via 4 satellites and Aloha wasn’t.robbie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 2:05 pmthat applies to you, you bring up the figures can't be trueemjel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 1:30 pmThen I guess you’d have to substantiate that if you’re attempting to prove something, but I suspect you can’t. But this is what it is saying in the latest booklet "..the concert was initially beamed around the globe, reaching an audience estimated at more than one billion people at the time". But it wasn’t - it wasn’t beamed around the globe at the time of the show and it did not have an audience if over one billion people - and evidence has shown that the numbers etc are simply mythical. It really is as simple as that.

Yes let's kill that part of Elvis story. People should know that whole his legend is a fake.
That's what fans are for, right?
Who will call CNN?

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
Who has actually claimed his legend is a fake? His legendary status from what he did in the 50’s etc is already in the history books which resulted in him being regarded as an iconic artist. Nothing will change that and the removal or correction of certain mythical claims isn’t going to change that either. Why would any proper fan prefer to have embellishments and false claims as opposed to factual info.

On cd and dvd part, i'm pretty happy with what i have before... The audio on the FTD set is perfect for me as it is.
I orderded the vinyl version tough, but correct me if i'm wrong, that the new released one (hope to get it in a few days), is not the version as remixed as on the FTD by Matt Ross Spang?
If so, very dissapointed, it was te only reason for buying it now (again)...

The vinyl is the vintage mix, as remastered by Vic Anesini. The same as on the 4 lp version, the legacy cd, etc.JohanD wrote:On cd and dvd part, i'm pretty happy with what i have before... The audio on the FTD set is perfect for me as it is.

I wonder if this was a conscious decision or just an error with the wrong tape being used. I was going to pick up a copy in the next few days, but not sure if I'll do that now with it's £35 price tagfrus75 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 6:02 pmThe vinyl is the vintage mix, as remastered by Vic Anesini. Instead of buying the new LP, why doesn't Sony just send someone to my house and kick me square in the b*lls...

Because those same fans are probably hoping the false claim will someday reach "2 billion people watched Elvis' satellite show"
I agree with you, emjel. It's ridiculous.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
I’m sure there are already some who already believe that 2 billion number. Earlier today, I came across some loony on a FB site who was proclaiming it was nearer to 4 billion. They obviously were not aware of the fact that the global population back at the start of ‘73 was only around 3.8 billion so removing the really big countries which did not even take it even after the event, brings that number down considerably to around 1.7 billion.Paul Allen wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 6:42 pmBecause those same fans are probably hoping the false claim will someday reach "2 billion people watched Elvis' satellite show"

Well, now there's an opportunity for FTD to release the Aloha from Hawaii LP with the new Matt Ross Spang mix. - I haven't bought vinyl after the 80's, so this doesn't really concern me.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
Yeah it's very straight forward isn't it. It's on its way back and my new copy should arrive on Aug 16th or before. Hopefully in better condition!!Jamie wrote:That's true. But I guess Amazon should have taken that into account. When I get FTDs from Now Dig T his they are always packaged extremely robustly and never any issues. NDT being a small firm can't afford to have returns and poor customer relations. Amazon don't need to worry about it imo. I suspect you won't be alone in just keeping it and accepting the situation as it can be a chew to return. Having said that all I needed to do was pop it to my local Post Office, didn't need to repackage or anything. If it had been a bit of effort I might not have bothered either.

Since Elvis was a prince from another planet, maybe 3 additional billion were watching from another planet!
Nah.

Oh dear, you shouldn't make suggestions like that - some will actually latch on to it and start believing. And then it will be...."the concert was beamed live to the Universe"Paul Allen wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 9:22 pmBut wait a minute!emjel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 8:02 pmI’m sure there are already some who already believe that 2 billion number. Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
But we’ve enjoyed it for the last two days when we got it early courtesy of Amazon. So then it was time to analyse the book and putting the erroneous viewing figures aside unlike the vinyl, I couldn’t see any reference to that unknown and unreleased concert that got recorded on the 24th January 1973. Maybe FTD will release it on a super deluxe version in 18 months time along with the original Quad mix and a 400 page book.
