It's a pity the vinyl has an old mix-tape
I beg your pardon? They issued an old mix on the vinyl?

Disappointing with the blu ray
To my eyes there is a frame rate issue and drag to the picture
Very sloppy job it's like it's dropped frames during the conversion or authoring one just has to put the dvd version back in and you can notice it big time

Regarding the sound mix on the 2 shows Matt has done a great job 🤘

I wasn't planning on picking this up, but saw it in HMV, and thought I would. The blu ray looks HORRIBLE. As OnTourCam says, there appears to be a frame rate issue, plus someone has added so much sharpening to the image, that it actually make it look blurred, and for every line there is another "ghosting" the image.

On the plus side, they appear to have improved the card holders for the CDs this time around. I still don't like them much, but at least you can get the discs out.

Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.

Amazon updated my arrival of the box to today instead of Monday. We’ll see if they stick with that. Meanwhile the streaming is sounding great.

I would like to know if anyone has compared the 4 lps with the new 2023 and if it is a simple reissue, I am commenting on it because if the sound is the same, it is not worth buying a new reissue and it is not complete since the previous one bring the 2 shows

- 4 lp set and 2 cd legacy set: 1973 stereo mix of main show and 2013 remix of rehearsal show

- FTD: new 2022 mix of new show and 2013 mix of rehearsal show

- new lp: 1973 mix of main show

- new cd set: new 2022 mix of main show (like FTD) and new 2022 mix of rehearsal show (only place to find it).

So the new CD set (NOT THE VINYL!!) is completely different to the 4 lp version

i guess All You Need Is Love broadcast of 400 million can't be true must have been less than that
You can guess what ever turns you on - I have no idea and neither do you, but at least Our World was broadcast via 4 satellites around the world whereas Aloha only had the facility of using one, which we know was only capable of reaching parts of Australia, Japan/ the Pacific region whilst Elvis was performing. Quite why some fans have a problem with that is anyone’s guess, but no doubt it’s because it shatters the myth that has been going around for the last 50 years.
You can guess what ever turns you on, 400 million way to high
Then I guess you’d have to substantiate that if you’re attempting to prove something, but I suspect you can’t. But I suppose you give it your best shot if you’re that needy.
that applies to you, you bring up the figures can't be true
I’m not that bothered in all honesty and whether it was 200 million, 300 million or 400 million. Figures given are estimates but It’s not something that continually gets pitched to all and sundry. The fact remains that Our World was broadcast as it happened around the world via 4 satellites and Aloha wasn’t.

But this is what it is saying in the latest booklet "..the concert was initially beamed around the globe, reaching an audience estimated at more than one billion people at the time". But it wasn’t - it wasn’t beamed around the globe at the time of the show and it did not have an audience if over one billion :D people - and evidence has shown that the numbers etc are simply mythical. It really is as simple as that.
All those stats are incorrect.

The audience viewership was 2 Billion, not 1 !!!

Y’all need to get that str8. :facep:

The new mix (by Matt Ross-Spang) of the main show on January 14, 1973 was mastered by Jan Eliasson. So if the LP is noting that the mastering was done by Vic Anesini, the conclusion is that the LP contains the original 1973 mix... just putting that out there in case it wasn't clear. I get the LP today so I'll confirm if someone hasn't already by the time I get mine...

Yes, that's correct. The new CD set, including CD 1-3, and the LP were mastered by Vic Anesini according to the credits.

The question remains, whether the LP uses Vic Anesini's 2013 Mastering, that was used for the Music On Vinyl 4 LP, or if Vic Anesini did a new 2023 remastering of the old mix, especially for the new LP. I doubt it, but tomorrow I will listen to it.

That's why alfredotcb is asking about the sound of the LP, not about the mix.

Well it arrived today at my house in UK and it's got to go back. Bloody Amazon sent it in a thin cardboard wallet and the sides have been crushed. They're absolutely useless!!

Try marking the re-order as a gift. I've heard that if you do that they'll put it in a box so nobody can tell what's in it when it arrives.
Thanks for the tip, Wonderwall. As my order hasn't been shipped yet, I managed to edit it by adding a gift option. Fingers crossed they will treat the box-set more kindly now.
Let us know how it goes, please. I've never tried it myself, but lots of people say it works.
I received my set from Amazon today. It's a miracle it made it here at all. It was in one of those plastic mailing bags - which is too loose for a product like this. In addition, the bag was actually split open halfway down on one side - so the set could have slid out at any time. Inexplicably, the set is in perfect condition, though. I'm way behind on listening to Elvis releases. I'm still finishing up the Elvis On Tour set and the new MSG is waiting behind it. I might bump this one ahead, though.

Not anymore, although the booklet says so (no credits to Jan Eliasson). I haven't noticed any audible differences between the 2022 FTD and the 2023 Legacy. Attached is a screenshot of my DR measurements.

Well, the replacement has turned up. Double packaged this time and it's still not 100%.

To be fair to Amazon this time it looks like a quality control issue. I took the cellophane off and the box came apart at the seams, like not enough glue was used. There's also a bulge in the spine but as someone else had said it might be how it came to Amazon from FTD's manufacturer as the bulge is in exactly the same position. Thankfully the bulge isn't as noticeable as previous copy.

If anyone still has the FTD edition, sell it. Or give it away if you don’t need the money. I sold mine for some 50€ and don’t regret it. The new set sounds amazing. Discs 1 and 3 are the same as FTD of course, but you have to have the rehearsal in this sound quality.
... or ... give the FTD edition CDs away to a friend, but keep the booklet to go along with the new SONY Legacy booklet...

or ... keep the FTD edition if you must have every cd release by FTD to complete your collection...

or ... keep the FTD edition as a show-and-tell item to tell friends about how fans were tricked by FTD/SONY to buy both sets. :smt023

Yes indeed, it has the original 1973 mix mastered by Vic Anesini, wich is good, but offers nothing new.
I was hoping for the Matt Ross version, but it's not the case.
Other then the nice pics on the printed inner sleeves (on disc one),it's not new, there is nu audio upgrade at all...
Dissapointed....
Glad to have the FTD cd....but i was so hoping to have THAT version on vinyl.

For anyone attending the gathering at Graceland next week, this is another question that Ernst should be asked - why didn’t the new vinyl get the new MRS mix along with why did Sony decide to release another version of Aloha so soon after the FTD release.

:facep:
Wait, wait, wait. I read somewhere that the viewership was closer to 2.95 billion. What are we to believe now??

I watched it in April of that year when it aired here.

That's all I give a rat's fat ass about.
