I noticed the end of Burning Love from the 12th has a 2 second clip used twice... Elvis can be seen doing his falsetto when the audio doesn't match, then the clip is immediately used again but this time its correct. Strange.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
My TTWII and BH sets came in a specially designed shipping case which was then put in an outer package by my dealer. The thing which has not been truly established is whether these sets ], which are likely to have come from Sony on small pallets, were kind of slightly crushed on their way to Amazon and if so, it is unlikely that Amazon warehouse workers are going to notice or have time to notice any slight creasing in the spine especially with the shrink wrap on the sets. As I previously wrote, Sony seem to be capable of using sturdier card on their Dylan sets, but seem to take a cheaper route with Elvis. Maybe it’s down to costs vs sales with Elvis, but the Dylan sets seem to sell more than the Elvis ones which would give Sony a better budget to work with.iplayastrat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:45 pmemjel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 12:38 pmDoing custom made packaging for a big 16 LP set is one thing, but getting Sony and FTD to do it on 8" sets will simply increase the price too much for such a low value item. Sony could of course use a heavier/sturdier card on the actual slip case like they do with their Dylan Bootleg Sets, but then they also include hardback books which also add internal protection.iplayastrat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:52 amYou are completely right. 16 LP Set. Rhino shipped them in a custom made box that was lined with foam. It arrived in perfect shape.
If only FTD and Sony would do the same.
I guess my point was that Amazon, Sony & FTD could all do a better job.
When my deluxe set of That's The Way It Is (FTD) was sent out it was packaged
in a small thin cardboard box. And that was a very expensive set. FTD could have
easily made a custom box for it like Rhino did with the the Stevie Nicks set.
Just incase there are any Stevie Nicks fans here. The Rhino box set of hers,
Stevie Nicks Complete Studio Albums & Rarities 16 LP set is about sold out.
Of 3000 copies made of the set, there is less than 100 left.
But I certainly cannot fault the materials used for the FTD Book/CD combo sets.
With regard to Stevie Nicks, is that a vinyl only set or is it available in CD?

while the LP set is $300. I have both. The one LP I've listened to so far is from
the "Rarities" album. And it sounds good.

Re: Aloha From Hawaii (Deluxe Edition) coming to streaming services August 11th
Thanks - you must be a serious fan then to have both. So just checked it out. Over here, the vinyl has gone and shipping costs etc would make it too expensive to import, which just leaves the CD set and that hasn’t got great reviews for the packaging. Complaints suggest that it is overpriced for the quality - flimsy sleeves with poor images and text so small in the booklet that it is unreadable especially on the kind of backgrounds used.iplayastrat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:11 pmStevie's set is available on both CD and vinyl. Yeah, it is a crap shot. I wonder if he would be better off going to a brick and mortar store to buy the set.

I just picked up the set last night at my local Barnes and Noble’s, but still haven’t opened it yet. More than likely I’ll sit, (if I’m able) and check the whole thing out on Sunday.

I completely understand bro, if you’re paying for something nice for the collection, or just a casual fan item, (I’m aware the music is the most important aspect), but you’re also paying for the packaging and you want your product to be in the best condition possible.

Yes I'm a big fan, especially of her work from 1973 to about 1985.
And you're right about the CD set. I'd seen those reviews too. But
overall it's not a bad price for a 10 CD set. Some of the discs have
been remastered. I plan on listening to the vinyl first.

Cool. Let us know what you think.
Are you like me, forever waiting on Buckingham Nicks to be rereleased?
I suppose you all know the connection to Elvis that Buckingham Nicks has?
And it's more than just the 50th year mark like Aloha.

I might have missed it, but I don't think the recently uploaded video for Blue Hawaii from the post-Aloha recordings has been mentioned yet. Although it's pretty banal and typically unimaginative, in my opinion. But I thought it was worth adding here, as opposed to starting a new thread.

I think those after show recordings have been unfairly panned over the years. There's some really nice singing on them, even if the material wasn't exactly exciting. But it's so refreshing to him in that more intimate context. The same is true of the home recordings later in the year. It's a shame there wasn't an album released of songs in these kind of smaller arrangements. I guess songs like I Miss You or Are You Sincere aren't that far off, and there's the piano songs, but an album of Elvis in a relaxed setting like that would have been very nice.Rockin_John wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 11:49 pmIs it just me or is his voice soooo much better during the after show session compared to the live show?

He even comments for the band to accentuate as its "very isolated out here" Blue Hawaii is sung especially well.pmp wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 12:49 amI think those after show recordings have been unfairly panned over the years. Not sure I'm in agreement. I do enjoy the "after show" recordings but to me Elvis sounds pretty tired. Many refer his performance as "laid back" or "relaxed" but he sounds like he looks... beat. His voice is fine no doubt but there were some wonderful performances during that main show where his voice was strong, controlled and quite beautiful... one of my favorites being I'll Remember You.Rockin_John wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 11:49 pmIs it just me or is his voice soooo much better during the after show session compared to the live show?

The updated mix enhances all aspects of the audio. I have a strong fondness for that sound that Elvis originated during the early 70s.

I wonder why they didn’t film these insert performances on Jan 10 or 11? Why wait to the very end of the project? He would have been less likely to fall asleep mid-song, lol.

Hi there!! .
Tom Brown, Ernst jorgensen & Joe Jackson.

Is this true what´s pointed out here below??? . Looks like not only fans buys Elvis cds.... . Bye for now .
John Jackson and Ernst Jorgensen of Sony/BMG appeared and spoke of Elvis music catalog and projects, including the new release on CD and vinyl, "Way Down In The Jungle Room". The news is that the album is moving right up the charts and is outselling the new album, "The Beatles Live At The Hollywood Bowl". It's almost as if it's 1965 again with Elvis and The Beatles on the charts, vying for the top position.

Only in their dreams. In the U.K., Way Down in the Jungle Room came in at #16 where it peaked and then dropped back to #67 and then #68 and that was it - 3 weeks in the chart. Live at the Hollywood Bowl peaked at #3 and was in the chart for 8 weeks.Mike Windgren wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 1:10 amHi there!! .

Tom Brown and co will say what they know the audience wants to hear. It was an bit like this year when Roger Semon asked the audience the name of the album that Aloha knocked off the top spot, the answer being Dark Side of the Moon, but it was said as if it was a massive achievement. However, it wasn’t really as they both came out virtually the same time (Moon was a month behind Aloha) and both were at #1 for 1 week. However the major difference is that Moon did not have the benefit of a 90 minute TV Special and Moon has been on the Billboard chart for nearly 1000 weeks and as recently as April this year.
And their memories of 1965 must be struggling as The Beatles in ‘65 were way ahead of what Elvis was doing - there was little competition in vying for the top spot between the two.
As an aside and I know these two re-issues came out at different times but maybe it would have been better to compare Elvis last recordings on the Jungle Room release (2016) with The Beatles last recordings on the Let It Be re-issue (2021). Global sales for Jungle Room after 7 years is now around 39k whereas Let It Be after nearly 2 years is up over 280k.
I read in an interview a few years back where someone from Sony was asked about Elvis’ re-issue/repackaged sales compared to what Apple were doing and the response was that Sony really wished they could get similar sales with Elvis product as Apple did with The Beatles.

Which viewing figures... the accurate figures, or the highly exaggerated pretend figures?
