That doesn’t make much sense as you appear to be contradicting yourself. You write "i don't think that FTD would release SB tapes with faked stereo sound", and then go onto to write, "they have and are the-real Mac Coy". So is that the real McCoy for fake stereo sound? I guess you don’t subscribe to the idea of fake stereo on the 50’s recordings that some people think Sony will put out. I guess they’ll be just ugly.

One thing for sure here that absolutely nobody can argue about;
MRS would love to have the sales figures that FTD have...which has everything to do with why FTD don`t care what MRS does..."there is room for everybody"...end of story.

A case only gets closed when evidence is proven. At the moment, nobody has proven anything against MRS. It’s all speculation. And if they are using recordings that are in Public Domain, there is no case to prove regarding fraud.

It’s likely to be regarded as a civil case and not necessarily criminal - the police don’t usually get involved in civil disputes. Also, any copying of discs cannot be regarded as theft or the recordings being stolen because the person doing the copying has not actually taken the cassette or whatever medium the recording is on which would deprive the owner from future use. Clearly, FTD still have the original cassette in their possession.

I read a couple of years ago that one of their releases had sold 869 copies in the first week in the U.K. . That’s only around 250 fewer than Sony got with their On Tour box earlier this year which would have included some streaming.sweetangeline wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 7:33 pmoh yes huge sales numbers to make it on the charts today ...I stand by what I said.emjel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 6:55 pmI’m sure you’ll love to know that quite a few MRS album releases actually charted in the U.K.sweetangeline wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 6:39 pmOne thing for sure here that absolutely nobody can argue about;

Re: Elvis Presley At 3AM - Lake Tahoe 1973 (Memphis Recording Service)
Until now, MRS has been dealing year by year with 1969-70-71-72-73 in 2020-21-22-24. One common thing is that there are few soundboards from those years. Probably they’ll release the February and September 73 soundboards in 2024 too.
2025 will mark the year where they will deal with 1974, and there are tons of concerts available. Curious to know what they’ll do. We’re talking about many concerts here.

These recordings belong on a collectors' label, and not on releases that are aimed at the general audience, where they do more harm than good.
How do you know they do more harm than good?
Do you really think that the average Joe who unsuspectingly buys one of these soundboard releases, is ever going to buy another Elvis release again?
Possibly. Possibly not. Who knows, unless average Joe declares it one way or the other to all of us. My local HMV sells MRS releases, which it wouldn't do if they didn't sell. Strangely, I haven't bought any of them as I'm not interested in the live recordings.
You may appreciate these recordings for what they are, but I think that for the average person with no knowledge about the nature of these recordings, these releases could well be a turn-off.
This thought struck me while listening to the '71 set, where some of Elvis' performances are actually quite poor.

Re: Elvis Presley At 3AM - Lake Tahoe 1973 (Memphis Recording Service)
The comment was given to Sweetangeline as it was a little bit of humorous banter between us regarding charts and placements. So in this case, I don’t see the chart entry as a good or bad thing, especially when the actual sales number is not that high. I doubt we are even talking about sales of over 1,000.Union Ave wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:32 pmYou seem to think that that's a good thing. I'm not convinced that it is.

I couldn’t honestly say what any one individual may or may not think when buying one of these releases, but I doubt the average Joe would start out their listening to Elvis with one of these releases. These are likely being bought by a more casual fan who may have bought an FTD release had they known where to buy them - who knows, but the reviews I’ve seen on Amazon all seem to offer 4 or 5 star reviews with the relevant brilliant/amazing accolades. As regards to them doing more harm than good, that’s hardly likely - it’s not as if they are selling in huge numbers that would be detrimental to the main catalogue - even official titles in mainstream aren’t exactly flying off the shelves.

Re: Elvis Presley At 3AM - Lake Tahoe 1973 (Memphis Recording Service)
Audio recordings should be considered as a representation of reality rather than an exact replica. A straight, unaltered mono soundboard isn't closer to what actually happened than MRS' machine learning efforts. One could even argue MRS is attempting to close the gap between a mono soundboard (a very limited representation of what was going on) and, what possibly could have been, a professional multi-track-recording (a much more accurate, but still limited representation of Elvis' concert performance).
It's somewhat difficult for me to accept that digitally extracted stereo is inferior, fake or whatever you like to call it, like some users seem to think. I'm also not going to apologize for buying the occasional MRS title, because it's just a tiny fraction of what I (happily) spend on FTD products year after year after year.

FTD's lack of response to addressing these issues brings us closer to the demise if FTD.
So it's no surprise fans will turn elsewhere for their product.
When the label ends, we all lose out.
All that MRS does is repackage FTD releases.
They're nothing more than scavengers,
ripping off the work of others.
Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.

There have been many mentions of them on this very forum over the last couple of months.
Also the label is all over youtube.
Check it out. Go to their website and type in Elvis. You might love it.
