Guitar Man - The Sessions 1967-68 New FTD Set. Summer 2024
Another email just come through - Guitar Man: The Sessions 67/68 5 CD Set which many have been looking forward to getting released by FTD. That’s a great shot for the cover.
July could be an expensive month with the Celluloid book too. My bank card has scurried off into hiding.

I would consider a loan at a very reasonable interest rate only because you are a 100% Elvis fan

Re: Guitar Man - The Sessions 1967-68 New FTD Set. Summer 2024
Thanks for the track listing. All we need to do now is see what we already have across a couple of the previous Classic Album sets and see how much on this new session set is unreleased especially to see if there are many unreleased complete takes. Looking quickly, I see 11 unreleased takes of Mine, 6 from Singing Tree and about a dozen from Going Home although not known how many are complete takes.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:07 pmPlenty of unreleased stuff here and the hilarious first takes of goin home which we only had from acetate, take 5 is a full take with Elvis goofing off and cracking jokes.

Odd that they left the October 1, 1967 session out, if you give us most of the Stay Away Joe sessions, may as well give us all of what's available. I'm still all in though, the rest of the material is excellent.

I was thinking the same thing. I could see them keeping "The Prisoner's Song" off the set. This occurs just after take 1 of U.S. Male.

It's fine that they left it off. I already have it on several other releases.

July could be an expensive month with the Celluloid book too. My bank card has scurried off into hiding.

Definitely a 'no brainer' for this old guy. There's not a song I skip from this collection. I look forward to spending many a hour devouring this one. Hopefully, there is a great deal of dialogue left intact between the songs. As we've heard from the various bootlegs, there was a good vibe going on in the studio between Elvis, Jerry Reed, and the musicians. Unfortunately, if this set is scheduled for July that means it will be some time in August before it hits my CD player.

How about showing some empathy for those who do not indulge into the shady world of bootlegs, Rob?
The song is all over youtube, it's not like putting it on a limited edition collector's label release will tarnish Elvis reputation.

I have no control over whether they put it on there or not. My opinion will not sway them one way or another. I commented that I was fine with them omitting it. Maybe they'll listen to you and put it there.
My comment stands. Good luck with yours.
