Compared to the FTD and the Legacy versions, this sounds like a quieter master of the FTD with a touch more bass and treble, a slightly buried mid range and without the excessive reverb, the drums and cymbals are buried like the FTD compared to the Legacy. I think if the drums weren't so buried, this would've taken the best of both masters.

Strange. This is not for me. I'd love 69 sessions with drums in center but as usual they leave something out to release later. I'd also like a really good mix of the '74 live show.

This version of Polk Salad Annie isn't it. Where's the piano?
It seems like they have gone out of their way to make a different mix, instead of doing the ultimate one.

Keep on Rockin'

PiersEIN...you have been going on and on about Sony releasing the 50`s tracks in STEREO for many months now and without a hint of any confirmation from them, so it`s all guesswork from you and nothing more. You have posted "IT WILL HAPPEN" in various posts but guess what?? Someday were all going to leave this planet as well

With so many masters missing this will not be a set of interest for me. I'll give it a play or two on amazon music as it will be included in the prime membership anyway.
It would be interesting to learn why the decision was made to leave out so many songs - especially considering the inclusion of a weak track like "Hey Jude". All in all a strange set. Personally I'd rather had separate releases for the 50es, 60es, 70es and the live material anyway. But, well, it is what it is and I won't be losing any sleep over this.

CD 1 has "MONO" printed on it, so it will not be this one I guess.
My apologies if so.

Here is more info from Graceland:

***SHIPPING RESTRICTION: NOT AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT TO ADDRESSES IN GERMANY***

Memphis is a comprehensive collection that takes listeners through the many recordings Elvis had done while in Memphis - from his songs at SUN Records, to his American Studio and Stax sessions, through to his 1974 hometown show and finally, his last recordings in Graceland. This 5-CD collection of Elvis’ songs over the years features 111 tracks, 88 of which are newly mixed versions of the select recordings, pure and without overdubs.

If the price is right (expect it too be in the same league as the Nashville 70's set), i'll get it.
It looks fine.

According to the sticker for the LP

This has me intrigued, but also a bit skeptical. I absolutely loved Matt's studio work on the undubbed Masters on the "From Elvis in Nashville" set. However, I wasn't as pleased with his reverb-heavy work on several of the Jungle Room outtakes from WDITJR nor was I happy with a majority of the still-present backing vocals that were still audible on the "Back in Nashville" undubbed Masters. So, it remains to be seen ( I guess heard) how his work will be on this set. I also don't understand some of the missing songs that have already been discussed.

As far as the '74 Memphis show, I was quite sure we'd see a 50th anniversary release of this show in some manner. I am a fan of Ross-Spang's live mixes on the Aloha and MSG shows. I also believe he did an admirable job on the reels/files he was given from the EOT shows. I didn't pick up the Elvis Now 1972 set, but I recall the reviews are mostly positive on his work on that material so I'm confident this show will be mixed nicely as well.

Bottom line - I'm sure I will pick this up, but I may wait until a few trusty souls on here share some thoughts on the sound of the undubbed sessions. Oh, as far as the SUN material, I cannot for the life of me image that Matt could top Kevan Budd's stellar work on those landmark songs.

Good Lord that's a helluva cover on the vinyl.

I just may have to pick that one up...

As to "Polk Salad Annie" - this new mix is certainly good. It seems the band is a little more balanced, but Elvis seems to be buried a bit in the mix. Maybe that's what folks want?

Artwork looks amazing. Polk Salad sounds FANTASTIC! Matt Ross-Spang finally gives KICK and BASS to the mix (that is lacking on the Legacy mix) and on Polk Salad we also get to hear Glen D. a whole lot more. This mix shows and let you hear the musicians responding to Elvis who is calling out Ronnie and Duke. Love this mix and the whole show will be awesome in this new mix! Play it loud and you will hear everything - including Elvis - in much more detail then ever before.

But that's Elvis in Vegas on the front of the vinyl. I normally don't really care whether the artwork is exactly in line with contents, but in a set called "Memphis," surely an image from Memphis should be on the front and not one from Vegas?

Why not an image from the 1961 concert in Memphis? At least that would give a nod to the one major Memphis "event" that we don't have a recording of.
