This label would have also been appropriate, IMO:TCB-FAN wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 8:14 pmA thorough review of the package & a "That's All Right" sound clip (from disc 2 - Columbia, SC 2/18). I was hoping the discs themselves would be black instead of orange (for historical accuracy) since RCA released many of their albums in 1977 & onward using a black label with white print.

Looking at the cover it's hard to believe it's the same person from just eight days earlier.

In the latest issue of ETMAHM magazine it was mentioned that this release would be slightly edited (slurred speech).Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:37 pmVery strange.skabillyrebels wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:17 pmNo it was part of the dialogueElvis2000 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:54 amThere's nothing in the dialogue that warrants an edit, it's just Elvis interacting with the crowd.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:48 amSomeone on facebook mentioned that some funny dialogue before little sister on the 21st has been edited out? So they edit out slurred speech on this release but are happy to give us three discs of very poor shows from the summer of 1976. Genuinely makes no sense. On Tape 1972 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 3:31 pmIn the latest issue of ETMAHM magazine it was mentioned that this release would be slightly edited (slurred speech).Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:37 pmVery strange.skabillyrebels wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:17 pmNo it was part of the dialogueElvis2000 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:54 amThere's nothing in the dialogue that warrants an edit, it's just Elvis interacting with the crowd.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:48 amSomeone on facebook mentioned that some funny dialogue before little sister on the 21st has been edited out? I support the label. I have everything CDs & books. But if Ernst continues to edit stuff that I have complete on other CDs I'm out. Why rebuy to get something edited? This is the last one I bought without a review. The next edited one I'll skip.

Why would we want to hear Elvis struggling to speak coherently?
Edits do make sense sometimes. I wish they'd have edited some of Elvis' dialogue from the "August Season In Vegas" FTD.

Because when a release says it features everything the sound engineer recorded, you don't expect edits. And there are shows where elvis struggled more then here that havent been edited.Keith Richards, Jr. wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:25 pmWhy would we want to hear Elvis struggling to speak coherently?

Not on a collectors label.
Also, they released Summer Of '76 with no edits and two releases later they give us these 1977 shows with edits, I'd argue he sounded far more coherent in February of 1977 than in the summer of 1976. Plus, all the audio for these shows is available via soundboards or audience recordings so we'd know what to expect.

In that case, they can edit the hell out an upcoming Rapid City 77 release.

I would raise all hell if they edited the songs, but if they edit a couple of seconds of dialgoue, it's OK as far as I'm concerned. I respect the collector mentality, though. If FTD released these shows with no edits whatsoever, I wouldn't complain. It's no big deal either way for me but I do understand why FTD don't always release every bit of dilalogue.

Well, then that explains why this release had been edited.
If he can't properly say "W words," it's better edited or not released at all.

On the plus side, "Little Sister" from West Palm Beach is about 2-3 seconds longer compared to previous outings.yellowstone wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 3:56 pmI support the label. Re: New FTD: The Last Tours Vol.1 (4CD) & California Holiday 2LP
Agreed. But it looks like Ernst has an agenda against 1977 shows. He released New Haven and other weak 1976 shows, but only a few 1977 shows and a compilation. And now, when finally 1977 shows get released again, they are edited. I think this may stem from Lisa's hatred towards 1977, as the CBS special also couldn't be released due to her.Elvis2000 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:50 pmNot on a collectors label.

Re: New FTD: The Last Tours Vol.1 (4CD) & California Holiday 2LP
Some of the edits I noticed were from february 14th and the 21st, on the 14th after my way, theres a bit of the introductions edited out that was on the final curtain and other releases, before the tape moves into Blueberry Hill, and on the 21st before little sister Elvis responds to a fan yelling at him and he responds with yes and ftd cut the rest of that interaction off where elvis mentions that he will make the rounds and be over there and over there, nothing incoherent or struggling to speak with that. It is just odd choices.

Re: New FTD: The Last Tours Vol.1 (4CD) & California Holiday 2LP
My guess is the producers of the set want to fit in as much musical content of these 7 chosen shows/concerts as possible into 4 CD's without having to spill over into a 5th CD, hence the increased edits of the verbal content. Most likely FTD will do the same for Volume 2. Seems logical to me.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 9:38 pmSome of the edits I noticed were from february 14th and the 21st, on the 14th after my way, theres a bit of the introductions edited out that was on the final curtain and other releases, before the tape moves into Blueberry Hill, and on the 21st before little sister Elvis responds to a fan yelling at him and he responds with yes and ftd cut the rest of that interaction off where elvis mentions that he will make the rounds and be over there and over there, nothing incoherent or struggling to speak with that. Re: New FTD: The Last Tours Vol.1 (4CD) & California Holiday 2LP
Theres actually plenty of room for that. The missing pieces wouldnt over extend the 1st disc, the last disc only has the 21st show and thats barely 40 minutes.TCB-FAN wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 10:26 pmMy guess is the producers of the set want to fit in as much musical content of these 7 chosen shows/concerts as possible into 4 CD's without having to spill over into a 5th CD, hence the increased edits of the verbal content. Re: New FTD: The Last Tours Vol.1 (4CD) & California Holiday 2LP
This wouldn't make any sense though, the February 21 has a disc for itself and doesn't need any edits for it to fit a disc and the Southern Style label released two of these shows on one disc albeit without Sherrill Nielsens solos edited out on the West Palm Beach show.TCB-FAN wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 10:26 pmMy guess is the producers of the set want to fit in as much musical content of these 7 chosen shows/concerts as possible into 4 CD's without having to spill over into a 5th CD, hence the increased edits of the verbal content.
