definitely a beautiful song. Loved watching the 68 special with him sitting down so close the those women. Oh my.
Re: Memories ( the song )
I hate it when people deliberately omit central facts to aid in distorting the truth of what happened. As you should very well know, Elvis managed to regain control of the show, once he saw the problem, by pouring lighter fluid over Charlie Hodge and slamming him repeatedly into a stack of speakers while biting the head off a Pat Boone action figure. The man was a born showman; let's never forget that.Rob wrote:I heard that people were walking out all over the place. One guy was even heard saying, "I can't stay here. The rhythm of the show is all messed up now."drjohncarpenter wrote:Sam Phillips did not "hate" the song. He told Elvis that where the singer had chosen to place "Memories" in his August 1969 set was a mistake, as it stopped the rhythm of the show. Phillips was correct.
It had to have been very uncomfortable for our star attraction.

One of the last great "punk" moments in our hero's career.Inigo Montoya wrote:....Elvis managed to regain control of the show, once he saw the problem, by pouring lighter fluid over Charlie Hodge and slamming him repeatedly into a stack of speakers while biting the head off a Pat Boone action figure.

The song is ok, but Elvis made it Brilliant, a true gem. Pure genius was that man. Hot damn.
