To James
The first photo must be boarding Nashville, (the film footage of Elvis getting off the train in Miami shows the clothes don't match exactly)

The photo was taken by Gary Pepper´s mother at the station in Memphis on April 18th. Elvis was leaving for Hollywood to film G.I. Blues.davide wrote:To James

Another update!
I have been able to find these images, the top one is uncropped and improved quality and the second one is new (to me) also put some more text in - a new receipt for the tux and the TV guide is now larger and of better quality.

Great photos, davide.
Here´s another photo from the rehearsal. Sorry about the bad quality. I think this is from an old Graceland Express magazine. They had an issue dedicated to this Sinatra show. I´ll check if there are more rare photos in that issue.

Here are other photos from the April 1995 issue of Graceland Express. Unfortunately, the quality is not very good, and the fold of the magazine can be seen in some photos.

I know he couldn't because he had to play a soldier in G.I. Blues and Blue Hawaii but I wish he could have kept the long hair.

Check out the chick on the far right. Her mind is definitely at work and she'd just love to sink her chops into him.

It must have been difficult for Elvis to be treated like a piece of meat, by so many women! Take a look at the eyes of the girl who's grabbing his hand, she looking at him like he's prime fillet!

Thanks the fool for providing those images - although the quality isn't great, from a historical angle they are invaluable...thanks again

Fantastic topic and some new photos to these eyes. Isn't the 'mystery' bass player called Joe Comfort?

This one : http://www.sinatrafamily.com/forum/showthread.php?p=878435
and this info : http://www.scottymoore.net/fontainebleau.html . The unknown bass player can just be seen next to Scotty Moore below.
and one update, found this much improved in quality, although still not great, in the Daily Mirror book (which had the King Creole recording session shot previously posted).

Excellent thread --- just directed here from that other newer one.
Can you believe that? Sheesh! In 1975, no less! It's almost as bad as RCA's infamous dynamiting then bulldozing into the Delaware River hours of tapes and vinyl, including those sorely-lost-for-all time alternates of "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel," etc:!
(At Right, RCA Victor's "Nipper Tower", Camden, New Jersey, as seen from the Delaware River)

In 1975 ABC destroyed the master videotape to free up space in their storage facilities. Video technicians did their best to improve an inferior copy for use in the "Sinatra - Classic Duets" PBS special.
Malcom Leo talking about 'This Is Elvis'
"The Sinatra Timex show actually came to us through Elvis own collection when we returned from Memphis with a lot of filmed material, there was an unmarked box and it was Elvis copy of the Timex show. We Subsequently got a better copy from an ABC affiliate station,I forget where."

By the way, who's the source for your story on the trashing of the TIMEX special in '75 - Malcolm Leo? I wasn't clear on that from your post. Thanks in advance! In the early 1960s, in what Billboard correspondent Bill Holland described as a "most spectacular case of wholesale vault trashing," RCA Records demolished its Camden, New Jersey, warehouse by first dynamiting the building and its contents, then bulldozing the rubble into the Delaware River. Through this single action, the record company notched a rare triple crown of destruction: It blew away a historic structure, polluted a famous waterway, and blasted four floors of cultural heritage—vinyl and metal master disc recordings—into oblivion.
The scope of this multifaceted demolition remains startling even today, but I find a related point more relevant; less than a decade after RCA destroyed a portion of its heritage, the company's insensitive trifecta would have been nearly impossible. No laws securing historic recordings had been passed, but, by the late 1960s, public policy had evolved a set of laws and regulations designed to protect both the warehouse and the river itself—historic structures and the natural environment.

Re: ABC Updated!!! "The Frank Sinatra Timex Special" March 1960
thanks for such beautiful beautiful pics
It's hard NOT to imagine Elvis as perfect; how else could someone be THAT good looking, THAT talented, THAT generous & THAT charismatic
Re: ABCTV Special "The Frank Sinatra Timex Special" - March 1960
Every time I see reference to such wanton destruction, and think about what was so needlessly lost, it makes me very angry and very depressed. I'm off to my room now to have a good cry.

Oh that rag.
You can keep their smart-ass reviews (no better or worse than many we offer here) but the features do rock and make it an essential "must-have" mag.
