This is a fantastic song, my favourite is by Billy Fury who in fact did two versions that I know of. I always thought he did it in an Elvisy style and always thought El would have done a great job on the song.
I got the story and photo from Ger, not sure if he got it from Ernst and the photo or took it himself.

so the record went into some pieces? but when was the photo taken from this record?.......that is a hell of a big piece :D

Just to demonstrate that I'm not as bad you imagine or are trying to make me out to be . . . .

I know EP's writing pretty well and I've got to tell you that the writing on that label (above acetate), looks to be EP's.

On that note, very much agreed; Kool piece.

N8, thanks.
I don't think you're bad, and I think you misunderstood my posts. I wasn't challenging, I was suggesting that you point out which ones you felt should be specified as forgeries, because its an area you apparantly researched and involve yourself with (mine's guitars). Like I mentioned in the posts on All Elvis, I understand your reservations and his frustrations. Ger encouraged your participation though he prefers justification over faith, but in either case neither of us stand to gain or lose anything. He chose to present these items here and the AEK for thier entertainment value of the members and fans. We've made them public in high resolution, his preference, and anyone can click save and download. Like everything on an open forum its open for discussion and dissection but without substantial evidence to establish or defeat any question of authenticity will ultimately come down to what each indiviidual chooses to believe, if they so choose.

The objective here is supposed to be fun but the opposition, animosity and fueds make the efforts tedious, boring and discourages contribution. That kind of stuff should stay in Off Topic where folks seem to revel in it. We're all here about the pictures.

For starters today, a few words on the "Fool,
Fool, Fool " acetate... After Ernst had convinced
his bosses in New York to dig in my photo vault
to illustrate both the box and booklet for the
The 50s Masters project ( 20 some years ago?),
he and I dug thru my collection one afternoon.
When it was time to pay me for my contributions
to the project ( at least 80% of the illustrations
in the booklet were mine ) and for RCA to return
me the photos, by mistake they sent me a small
black&white picture of - what turned out to be-
the "FFF" acetate sticking out of its sleeve...
The label text was not visible to the human eye.
Untill yesterday it still wasnt... James' scan has
changed all that. I knew it was the "FFF"
acetate pictured on the photo as RCA had
reproduced it in the Masters booklet, or as
part of a later project , the acompanied text
said so. But the label info wasnt readable...
I kept the small black&white photo for all
these years in a box of goodies saved.
A couple of weeks ago, by mail, it went to
James' place and I begged him to scan it
large and work on the visibility of the
label... The rest is history as the saying
goes... One big round of applause for
James V Roy, ladies and gents !

I totally agree.

I hope this means your concern will extend to your partner, and his tendency to be rude and dismissive at the drop of a hat. My quite correct observation about Judy Spreckels turned into something else with Riff's first reply. Maybe a chat will help him.

Gentlemen,

That is an interesting story on the acetate and be advised that that is indeed EP's writing.

I often state this, but . . . . genuine items always speak for themselves and have their own hidden story to tell; such is the case with the above acetate.

Gems have a way of popping up, sometimes when you least expect it. This is a perfect example. (Real items are always so much more exciting than even the most elaborate fakes.)

Enjoy, for that is indeed what this is all about.

thanks N8. Let's start from the beginning
again : I fully respect your opinion and you
respect mine, ok? Hobby friends again?
Was Elvis' handwriting ( like in the letter to
Jurgen Seydel in Germany) always that
bad?! Are there genuine examples of his
handwriting when its more "polished" ?
Or did our German neighbours invented
a new Elvis style handwriting all together?!

Just a gentle reminder about the civility rule on FECC please. The two threads are an asset to the Forum and nobody wants them to be chopped or to get pulled just because members can't see eye to eye on something.

Thank you for your cooperation and keep these rivetting posts coming.

Sorry guys, I dont have much to add information wise
to "Nobody's Child" , as seen on the previous page...
Ive had the label photo for at least 10 years, and
never got around using it in one of my books at the
time... Checked with Ernie Jorgie long ago, and
what he had to say Ive added to the photo yesterday.
I can't remember who mailed me the label photo.
It surely was made before the 78 rpm went to pieces
in the mail... When, where? Dunno. I think I remember
Ernst telling no safety tape copy was made at the
time... Brilliant!

With regards to the "France" pocket... It was in the
collection of a Dutch collector, about 10 years ago.
I only have the scans. No idea where the pocket
book is now?

Yes indeed, we are the best of the best... Henrik.
But howzabout the rare Jailhouse Rock photos you'd
promised to post here from your upcoming book?!
If you have problems putting them up, forward them
to me, and I'll ask James to do it for you. A promise
is a promise, Knuds! A bit of extra promotion for
your book won't hurt !
Thanks!

Dick,
Are you sure this is Elvis' handwriting?
Looks more like that of his Chimp ?!
Gawd, was he zonked out writing this
badly, or what?! All seventies hand-
written pieces I have as scans can now
go directly into the dustbin... Or I can
save them and put them up as "forgeries
good for a Laugh" as a future 'Echoes'
chapter...?

Yes Ger, it is the real thing, absolutely no doubt about that.
Elvis sent it to Jürgen Seydel, who gave it to me.
If there was anybody in this world I could trust, it was Jürgen Seydel.

He certainly was Ger, a very wise man and the best friend you could have.
Unfortunately he was treated very bad by some Elvis fans, which did hurt him.
But the biggest suckers he ever met were those of the German Karate Union.
F@cking bastards ........ I'd like to spend 5 minutes with each of them to ... smt185

I think Elvis' handwriting isn't always the same and not always very orderly (to say the least) because he didn't always had the chance to write on a desk or something like that. If you have to write on a thin piece of paper in your hand, it just won't look good. And I assume he was often in a hurry when giving away autographs and that's not contributing to neat handwriting either.

Question....all the photos taken in the hotel room when he was changing the shirt...was that after he was outside by the pool area with the fans? There was some photos of him in the green shirt and I believe he was with Judy Spreckles.

Sheila,
During Elvis his 2 weeks in Vegas he
participated in numerous photo-shoots.
At the swimming pool, in front of the Frontier,
posing in a sportscar on the strip, in his
hotel room, etc. Impossible to say what
shoot what day...?

A Brilliant point that I have always felt true & worthy of mention.
Here another picture at breakfast in Vegas with the lamp also shown in other pictures.

This amazing jacket that Elvis wore a great deal in Vegas is a very rare, designer label of the time jacket made by "WEB". These jackets are much sought after by vintage clothes collectors, undoubtedly helped by Elvis' wearing of this green beauty. I have one that I had to pay $900 for but still cave one the same as Elvis' featured here.

Here is A 1956 New Frontier gem passed from Elvis to my friend Gil & then to me back in 92.
