"I Was The One" on Stage Show (Like You've Never Heard or Seen Before)
I find myself with some spare time here and there. I took some time today to re-work my existing audio and video sources of the sorely undertreated Stage Show appearances. While I've made great leaps and bounds over the last few years in video quality (not those poorly "AI" "4k" "Upscaled" "Remastered" versions that plague the internet with overkill noise reduction, etc.), I've yet to get to a point where I'd re-share the entire collection without simply putting lipstick on a pig.
[The Fourth] Stage Show Appearance - "I Was The One" https://we.tl/t-Fn2N86dAj7
In the meantime, I've pulled one of my rough drafts of the fourth show. Here's I've provided two noticeable upgrades:
(1) I've colorized this performance by utilizing frame sequencing & hand-coloring in Photoshop. This provides a much more accurate colorization effort than an automated attempt. (I've also adjusted the image distortion a bit as well)
(2) A very noticable upgrade in quality for the audio track. Here – I've restored the sibilance, brought Scotty's guitar forward in the mix and removed most of the background noise from the original recording. The aforementioned are upgrades from the 16mm kinnescope sound film format used to record these performances.
Is it perfect? Far from it. These are just things I occupy my time with and occasionally share with others who are interested in them Unfortunately, I've watermarked and exported this in a small video to deter people from re-posting on YouTube or trying to make a buck off it.
Feedback is always appreciated and hope you all enjoy

I appreciate your effort, Thank You.
I believe in restoring and remastering film to as close to the original as the director intended as possible. Granted, the early kinescopes were all that existed, and there might not have been a director’s choice. This is different to Michael Curtiz choosing to shoot King Creole in black and white.
My question why colorize?

Great work. Maybe you can do the same magic on Money Honey and get Scotty up front and Elvis' out of tune guitar to the background, or is that impossible?

Not a fan of colorization, and it doesn't do too much in your example, but the video looks pretty nice and sounds great.
It was super fun to watch the master at work with one of his all-time best ballads, almost doo-wop, really.
Saturday, February 18, 1956. A long time ago.
Thanks for the share.

You might be interested in knowing that the backing vocals on this performance of his brand-new B-side "I Was The One" were not done by the Jordanaires. Their association would not begin until May 1956.
On this evening they were likely handled by Shirley Jean Ost, Bill Raymond and Bruce Snyder, vocalists who worked with the Dorsey Brothers. Notice that not once do the CBS cameras show them during the song.

Re:
To answer, it was just an opportunity to tinker with a new method of colorization that's not entirely automated (like you often see on YouTube – yielding poor(er) results). I don't often make time for these little projects as much as I used to, but nonetheless it's something I enjoy picking up here and there.ForeverElvis wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 6:12 pmI appreciate your effort, Thank You.

The original stage show performance of 'I Was The One' is a favourite of mine yet it is next to impossible to get a good visual copy of the footage from YouTube.

They usually expire after 1 week.
Maybe emshicks321 can re-upload and share the new link . . .
