This seems to be a plain copy of the FTD release?
No Blu-rays.

If the rehearsal is mixed the same way as the main show and both shows are mastered by Anesini or Ross-Spang over Eliasson this set will be worth getting if you missed out on the FTD, could even be worth getting if you sell or keep the FTD tbh.

Now let’s see if they managed to upscale the footage on the BR disc…

Where is this image from? For now I am more than happy with the DVD's I own as there's not much that can be done with the PQ due to the source but price is everything.

I remember somebody stating many months ago that a CD box set would still be released including a BluRay to the mainstream market even though FTD released the 8 inch package first...I wonder who that was?? Did some actually think we would get the 68 box (50th) and not a 73 box

You couldn't "miss out" on the FTD because it's still available pretty much everywhere...

And if the rehearsal show isn't remixed on this new set, I'll be looking for a baby to punch...

You did, and it's an utterly cynical, underhand ploy from FTD to release the FTD set last year and then issue it on the main label with a blu ray so that people buy it AGAIN. It's horrible, disgusting, underhand tactics, exploiting the hardcore group of fans who are buying everything. Just as I said many months ago.

thanks for the acknowledgement...at the end of the day it`s a box of CD`s a BluRay and probably a book that you have a choice of buying or not?? That said I never get this angry even for matters that are much, much worse.

I think that if Sony had intended to release this box set, FTD could have released a 7" version of Aloha, with just the two shows, which would have been cheaper for collectors.
It is very possible that the new box will have both concerts remixed...

 Wow! This news is a real head-scratcher considering last year's FTD release!
I'm now very glad that I passed on the FTD set.

I'm definitely looking forward to more detailed information about this new SONY Legacy set.
Questions that will hopefully be answered soon:
Will the rehearsal show be newly mixed?
Will the blu-ray be only of the main show?
Will the booklet be much different than the booklet that came with the FTD set?

Not by the looks of it, if you look carefully under the album art on the blu ray slipcase it shows the rehearsal, main show and the after show session are on it.

Searching my memory modules…..I believe it was YOU who said that you could not envisage Sony bypassing such an occasion by not releasing a big 12" box. But they are releasing a vinyl 12" so I guess that’s close enough. The ads have the CD set down as a regular 5" kind of box which is a bit strange. They must have it wrong.

If you look closely at the label of the blu-ray disc, it lists the rehearsal show, the main show, and the after-concert session.

If I zoom in I think I see rehearsal concert.
Aloha show
Press conference?

Any Japanese additions such as the set up footage, or even Nov72 Honolulu footage are excluded.. as expected.

I bet you can imagine it if you really try... because I'm thinking we're getting the same product as the FTD with the blu ray added... which would suck.

Is it any wonder that FTD and Sony are frightened of giving out contact information. This is a blatant rip off for hard core collectors who want to buy every release to keep their collection up to date. And if this new release contains the rehearsal show remixed by MRS, then Ernst should be ashamed of himself for allowing the FTD version to come out as both shows must have been done at the same time with the rehearsal one being held back for the FTD release.

If the blu ray includes both shows and the aftershow session, isn't it reasonable to assume that there will be no significant upgrade, and they are only using the format so that they can fit all the content on to one disc?

I didn't "miss out" on the FTD, I deliberately passed on it.

Probably won't pass on this.

We’ve already got the 40th anniversary 4 LP Aloha set Imagewith both shows and the rehearsals…let alone the FTD from last year and the quality going from something filmed on video to Blu-ray is nonexistent as we all know from the 68 Comeback 50th anniversary set.

So, no thanks.
