Re: Elvis and Anita Wood (July, 1958)
I love that photo. As I wrote elsewhere, twenty-one year-old Anita is so darned pretty, so in love with her boyfriend, and twenty-three year-old Elvis about the coolest, most tanned soldier in U.S. army history. How soon things would change.Aunt Delta on Wed Nov 22, 2017 10:09 am wrote:A lovely picture, Elvis and Anita at Fort Hood.

The caption should read:
With Anita Wood, Patricia Norwood, Rex Mansfield - Sgt. Bill Norwood home, Bldg 188, Apt. 5, McNair Village in Killeen, TX - circa July 1958
Patricia is the youngest daughter of Olly and Bill Norwood, Rex an army buddy.
The November 2015 auction, all from the collection of Sgt. Bill Norwood, who befriended Elvis at Fort Chaffee, Fort Hood, and let him hang out at his Killeen home whenever the star needed to blow off steam, offered many such photos and more.

Re: Elvis and Anita Wood (July, 1958)
I love these candid 50s snaps more than a thousand official publicity stills.
They show probably the last time Elvis lived anything like a "normal" existence.
Great to see him in everyday settings.
