ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
From one of my many scrapbooks come this clipping, yellowed with age, plus a small news article about Elvis being ill in Las Vegas.

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
Thanks a lot for posting this! It's fun to see reviews from the more obscure papers...in the second part there seems to be some lines missing from the bottom?

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
Thank you for posting this. Unlike many other reviews from this time, journalist Ron Williams appeared to stay for the entire show, and tried to make sense of what he witnessed. It's a pretty favorable piece, too. I wonder if he saw Elvis at the Philly Spectrum in 1976 or 1977? And, if so, what his reactions might have been.

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
Your welcome Doc. When Elvis was there in '76 and '77, I scanned our local paper for the next couple of days and found nothing about the shows. Perhaps there was something in the Philly papers, but I didn't get any of them at the time.My mother only got the local News Journal.Their was tv news coverage on the local news shows, but nothing about performance or how Elvis looked. My Mother had some friends that went to both shows, but they just reported back how great the concert was and what he sang. They didn't have real good seats either, couldn't take any real good pictures. the ones I remember they took were from a far distance, very grainy and nothing great. I just wish I could have gone!!drjohncarpenter wrote:Thank you for posting this. Reading both of those reviews gives us a contrast between a casual fan and die hard fanFrancesc wrote:There were articles on the Philadelphia newspapers

Its a pity that the die hard fans weren't more critical towards the end, it could have been the cold splash of water Elvis needed!

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
Here are some unpublished images from the Philadelphia show on JUNE 23, 1974 evening show. These black and white images are from my private collection and are posted here in low resolution and cropped.
In addition I have also added images from Elvis' final Spectrun appearance on May 25, 1977. Again, these are unpublished and from my private collection. These are also cropped and in low resolution,You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
What a surprise! I've never expected to see a picture from Elvis doing a high kick in 1977 - and up above, certainly not from Philly.Greybeard wrote:

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
Thanks Joern- The date is what I have from the person who gave them to me...they are also dated June 25 so it could be the location is wrong on my info. The rear of the pic states June 25, 1974 Philadelphia Spectrum- I assumed the date was wrong. perhaps it is the location that is in error.
The bottom '77 shots are mine..shot by my camera. I have about 35 others from this show as well as some footage I shot (silent about 10 minutes) and a friend shot (with sound- about 15 minutes). Neither has ever been released.
Thanks my friend.

Re: ELVIS AT THE SPECTRUM JUNE 1974
that is a fantastic 1977 shot. That kick!
WOW.
Also would be interesting to synchronize sound to the silent movie. With todays technology it's relatively easy (still a lot of work though, but technically easy).
