This is a home assembly, not a retail product. Two very different things.

Yes, you can easily tell the difference between home assembly and retail releases quite easily with Elvis product these days - because the home assembly is the coherent one.

What's more, what @elvis-fan proposes could actually fit on five discs instead of seven if the masters were presented as originally released without longer fade-outs, studio chatter, and false starts:

Disc one - Sun masters
Disc two - Memphis 69 part one.
Disc three - Memphis 69 part two and Jungle Room sessions
Disc Four - Complete Stax masters (which run for approx 78 minutes)
Disc Five - Memphis concert.

There. That wasn't so hard, was it?

They didn't include Rubberneckin'!....increadible

Any of the ones below would have been better than Mama liked the roses, This time jam and Hey jude! Another bad decision

This Is The Story
My Little Friend
Inherit The Wind
I'll Be There
If I'm A Fool For Loving You

Same above...any of these from stax would have been better than Take good care of her and She wears my ring...specially Thinking about you

Girl of mine
Mr. Songman
Thinking About You
Love Song of the Year

About the Memphis show....they still have 3 unreleased ones....would have been great to include one of them making the box more interesting IMHO

Undubbed in this instance means "half finished." Fine for FTD, but not for retail.
This is precisely what they did with the two Nashville packages, why would they break that pattern now?
I'm fine with the two Nashville boxes....my only complain is the very bad decision of not including the Sweets voices on Its only love....on the second bridge you can see Elvis leaves the first part to them specially...a musical effect..to then sing his response...but instead there is silence making Elvis entrance sounding out of time on the song

Because the overdubs on the Nashville recordings were merely intended to sweeten or add to the original recording. There is never any feeling when listening to the undubbed Nashville recordings that they are unfinished.

The overdubs on the Memphis 69 recordings were meant to COMPLETE the recording. The intent was completely different.

Hence why I said "undubbed IN THIS INSTANCE means half finished."

brilliant....Yes to the cd set and double vinyl album. So pleased and grateful that we still get so many wonderful releases almost half a century after his passing.

Despite some disappointment over a handful of the omitted tracks, I've ordered the CD and LP.

They say so in the 9 minute video
Thanks, but sorry, I can't hear that. Maybe I overheard it - at which time in the video are they saying this?

Yes, they are talking about "no overdubs", it says so on the sticker as well, but not about the masters. Hey Jude, at 4:10, is considerably shorter than the master. You can also continue this for '73, For Ol' Times Sake with its 3:37 is a lot shorter than the master, would correspond more to take 4, Good Times Charlie Got The Blues with its 4:28 would correspond to the unedited undubbed master, but Three Corn Patches (3:36), on the other hand, would correspond more to take 14. For The Heart with 3:56 would fit to take 1 and so on. In my opinion these are just studio highlights (masters & outtakes) without overdubs.

Not necessarily.

Since it stayed on the shelf until 1972, one assumes all concerned left it for what it was: a studio warm-up before a vocal overdub session.

It was the first song Elvis attempted on the evening of Tuesday 21st Jan and Elvis had the opportunity of revisiting the song later or even the next day or the next day after that, but was clearly not interested in committing to a proper version.
It would seem that RCA did not consider Elvis’ vocals as being good enough for release at the time even though overdubs were later added a couple of months later to what they did have. But the whole thing was a complete mess with poor vocals and completely messed up lyrics. About the only thing he got right was the coda at the end and we know that the only reason the recording eventually got pulled from the shelf was when RCA were desperate for something to help fill up the poor Elvis Now album, itself having a misleading title with the songs being recorded anywhere from one to three years before its release.

The UK price for the box set is much lower than the US and Canada Amazon links, but the vinyl is comparable with all 3. The UK box set price is ridiculously low.

Just my opinion but I wasn't impressed with that at all. I guess if the target is the average retailer that's fine but it's just a lot of fluff and no real discussion about why the content was chosen and how decisions were made. I've purchased this mainly for the '74 show as we already have the undubbed masters from the '69 sessions and I can't imagine the SUN recordings from ABFT or even Elvis At Sun being improved upon.

I'm really disappointed about the fact that this is the first opportunity taken to remix the Graceland session recordings and they decide to issue them unfinished.

I just did the same, $63.97 CDN including shipping.

Amazon Canada would have been $108 CDN with free prime delivery.

I saved $44 CDN!

The USD price after exchange is the same $108 CDN.

In this case, Amazon UK is the way to go!

I wonder why it is $45 less on AMZUK

Call me frugal, Rob... I just ordered the set from Amazon UK and spent a total of $47.60 (that INCLUDES postage for delivery to the US). Both Amazon (US) and Graceland have the set priced at 79.99 + tax and postage !!! By buying the set from the UK, I just saved about $40.00. That's insane savings. Maybe my glass is half empty, but I hope we don't receive an e-mail in a few days claiming there was a pricing error on the set.

Ordered both the CD set and vinyl. Still don't know why they chose not to include the leftovers from American Sound 69 and Stax 73. They could of did an additional 6th disc. This is the same company that gave us a 8 CD/2 DVD set of That's The Way It Is and a 11 CD set of 1969 concerts.

I don't know. But it was overdubbed at the same time as the other tracks from the session.
